Middle School Sexual Health Instruction Information

Post

Description:

California state law, the California Healthy Youth Act, requires that comprehensive sexual health

education and HIV prevention education be provided to students at least once in middle school and

once in high school, starting in grade 7. Due to the school closures in March 2020, this instruction was not provided during the 2019-2020 school year, thus we are providing it for both 7th and 8th graders for the 2020-2021 school year. Rosa Park’s instruction will be delivered by middle school science teachers for the 2020-2021 school year. Parent(s)/guardian(s) can opt-out of having their student receive the instruction by completing an opt-out form and returning it to their student’s science teacher or the school. Instruction will not begin before January 2021 (see your student’s science teacher for their specific instructional schedule).
